Interior Design Specialist

$21 per hour The hourly rate is a fixed entry rate for this position and applies to all new hires. Future pay increases are determined by performance, growth, and time in role, in accordance with our compensation policy. Joining a new Wayfair store launch means being part of something special from Day 1. During the first several weeks, you will work alongside the team to help set up, organize, and prepare the store for opening, which will look different from your long‑term day‑to‑day responsibilities. This hands‑on, team‑first experience helps bring our store to life and sets us up for success once we open our doors to the community and our customers. Salary Range $21 per hour. Using your interior design expertise, trend awareness, and flair for customer service, you’ll help bring their vision to life—whether in store, virtually, or in their home. This role blends creativity and strategy, giving you the tools to inspire and the autonomy to deliver results. Responsibilities Be the customer’s trusted advisor: greet, listen, and learn. Lead design consultations that feel like conversations, understanding the customer’s style, needs, and lifestyle. Turn vision into reality: create stunning, functional spaces using design expertise—color theory, spatial planning, textiles, and trend‑savvy picks. Inspire with tech + tools: build 2D/3D room views, mood boards, and persuasive presentations using our design software. Bonus points for experience with SketchUp, DesignFiles, Floorplanner, Icovia, or similar. Always be designing (and selling): grow sales by turning design dreams into shoppable plans and guiding customers every step of the way. Multitask with purpose: balance design appointments, sales floor chats, and team collaborations with a positive attitude and flexible mindset. Be a team player: pitch in on floor sets, help with replenishment, and share your best design hacks. Drive sales with style: actively seek out leads and help customers take the next step. Operate as “One Team”: support store goals by cross‑training across sales and back‑of‑house functions, flexing as needed during peak business periods. Qualifications & Skills Sales chops: 2+ years of sales experience, ideally with higher price‑point products or in a design‑related retail environment. Design know‑how: at least 1 year of interior, architectural, or graphic design, plus a solid grasp of spatial planning, color theory, and style trends. Flexibility: open availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Tech savviness: comfortable using design tools (AutoCAD, SketchUp, DesignFiles, etc.), POS systems, and platforms like Salesforce. Team spirit: thrive in a collaborative, cross‑functional environment. Great people skills: strong communicator with confidence to guide and build trust with customers from all walks of life. A hustle mindset: thrive in a fast‑paced setting and prioritize like a pro. A design‑driven background: bachelor’s degree or equivalent design‑related education is a plus but not a deal‑breaker; passion and skill go a long way. Physical & Environmental Requirements Physical activity: frequent standing, walking, reaching, occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, and crawling. Mobility & movement: frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Lifting ability: lift and move up to 50 lbs independently; occasional heavier items may require assistance. Vision requirements: close, distance, color, and peripheral vision; depth perception and focus adjustment. Temperature flexibility: comfortable in environments with varying temperature conditions. Noise tolerance: occasional exposure to moderate noise levels and physical activity. Safety awareness: minimal exposure to workplace or environmental hazards—must adhere to all safety protocols.
