Nursing Student Technician, Surgical/Trauma/Neuro Intensive Care Unit, STN-ICU, T2 (Job ID: 59145) Employing Organization: Summa Health System, Akron Campus Location: US:OH:Akron Job Type: Per Diem, Days Salary: $21.00/hr Summary: Supports the patient care team by performing multifunctional activities such as direct patient care, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and administrative/clerical support. Minimum Qualifications Formal Education Required: Must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student in an accredited associate degree or bachelor’s degree nursing program and have completed the first clinical rotation. Nursing Student Tech (NST) Conditions of Eligibility: An employee may remain in the NST position post‑graduation and pre‑licensure up to six (6) months after which eligibility to stay employed as an NST ceases. Experience and Training Required: Must complete Summa’s orientation. Current BLS-HCP card upon hire and maintained thereafter. Other Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications: Ability to read and write English, follow written and oral instructions, and perform basic mathematical functions. Work well within a team environment, providing and accepting constructive feedback and supporting team goals. Understand and carry out the vision of patient care at Summa: creating a patient‐focused care environment. Be self‑directed and take initiative beyond formal duties, including suggesting innovative ideas. Show flexibility/adaptability to meet changing service demands. Stand/walk for extended periods, frequently push, pull, and lift patients and equipment. Provide necessary care for patients across all age groups as required by the position. Effectively interact with patients/customers, respecting their needs for self‑respect and dignity. Level of Physical Demands: Heavy: Exerts 50‑100 pounds of force occasionally, or 25‑50 pounds frequently, or 10‑20 pounds continuously to move objects. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and sharps with associated risks of falls, strains, and contagious diseases.
