Job Description Alpha School’s unique model eliminates traditional classroom teaching and focuses on high‑energy workshops and coaching to accelerate student learning and real‑life skill development. What You Will Be Doing Facilitating one‑hour live workshops on life skills (public speaking, focus, delivering and receiving feedback) for K‑8 cohorts, following Alpha’s playbook. Conducting motivation sessions using student analytics and Alpha’s incentive system to achieve 100% student goal completion. Coaching Guides on program adherence and standards enforcement, delivering concrete improvement actions. Managing your own student cohort while developing other Guides. Monitoring student satisfaction scores, goal completion rates, and Guide performance metrics weekly to identify underperformance before it escalates. What You Won’t Be Doing Lecturing or tutoring students on academic content; students learn via self‑guided apps. Creating curriculum or developing lesson plans independently; playbook delivery fidelity is required, not creative innovation. Coaching Guides on instructional technique, as Guides do not teach; focus is energy, motivation, and accountability. Accepting 99% when the standard is 100%; maintaining the standard demonstrates belief in student capacity. Serving as a generic “big ball of empathy”; emphasis is on honest feedback and genuine consequences. Learning and Development Manager Key Responsibilities Deliver Alpha’s three promises to every student in your cohort: they love school, learn twice as fast as a traditional classroom, and develop real‑life skills. Basic Requirements Willing to work on‑campus at one of the locations listed above; relocation support provided. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in education, learning and development, coaching, youth leadership, or a comparable field. Track record of leading a team of five or more adults, including hiring and performance‑based termination decisions. Direct experience working with kids aged 5‑14 in an educational or developmental setting. Built, launched, or significantly grew a program, team, business, school, or initiative from the ground up. Proven use of data and metrics to set weekly goals and drive decisions, not just report results. Legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada. Nice‑to‑have Requirements Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field. Coached athletics, led wilderness or experiential programs, directed camps, or ran youth ministry at a scale that required running cohorts and measuring outcomes. Left classroom teaching to build or run programs from a different seat: EdTech, tutoring businesses, youth nonprofits, or school intervention teams. Early‑career track record of high personal performance—academic, athletic, or professional—before moving into leadership. Belief that the current education system is broken and personal investment in rebuilding it. Working with Us This is a full‑time (40 hours per week), long‑term position. The position is immediately available and requires entering into an independent contractor agreement with Crossover as a Contractor of Record. The compensation level is $75 USD per hour, which equates to $150 000 USD per year assuming 40 hours per week and 50 weeks per year. The payment period is weekly.
