Child Neurologist - School of Medicine, Neurology

Unit: School of Medicine Department: Neurology Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Department ofNeurology is to provide state of the art comprehensive patientcentered neurological care for adults and children, performtranslational and clinical research to further understanding ofdisease mechanisms and develop new treatments, and train the nextgeneration of neurologist and clinical neurologists. Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Neurology isseeking a full-time member to join our expanding clinical andresearch enterprises in the Division of Child Neurology. Thisposition will be provide patient care, engage in medical studentand neurology resident and fellow education, and participate inclinical research. Position Responsibilities 1. Clinical Primary clinical responsibilities includecare of patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings with anemphasis on Child Neurology. 2. Teaching Faculty member will teach medical studentsand housestaff. They will be expected to organize and develop a series of formal conferences for the housestaff and studentsemphasizing issues in Child Neurology. They will attend weekly Grand Rounds and lecture upon occasion as requested. 3. Research The Division of Child Neurology is engagedin clinical and translation research projects. The faculty memberwill be expected to participate in, and when appropriate lead, clinical research and clinical trials. 4. Service Faculty member will serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and/or University committees as necessary, aswell as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g. reviewer,conference organizer, etc. Minimum Qualifications BC/BE in Neurology with Special Qualifications in ChildNeurology Completion of an accredited Child Neurology trainingprogram Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
