The Electrician I/II/III is responsible for skilled technical work in the installation, inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of various electrical components and equipment in City facilities. Tasks involve the use of acquired skills in electrical installation and general maintenance, electrical repair and construction activities related to building operations. Electrician II requires a Journeyman Electrical license issued by the State of Colorado, or reciprocal state. Electrician III requires a Master Electrical license issued by the State of Colorado, or reciprocal state. This position will also be required to work on non-electrical issues performed by the division. It is a mandatory requirement of this position to work overtime, take weekend duty, and be on-call for facility and emergencies. Must be able to reach the City limits, within 60 minutes after being contacted, when on-call. This is a safety-sensitive position.
The starting range of pay is dependent on qualifications and experience of each individual candidate as follows: Electrician I: $74,942.40 - $95,929.60; Electrician II: $80,537.60- $103,126.40 (requires a Journeyman Electrical license); Electrician III: $86,569.60 - $110,801.60 (requires a Master Electrical license). The City of Westminster has a Multilingual Stipend Program to encourage, and reward benefited employees who are conversationally fluent in languages other than English. Benefited employees have the opportunity to test their language proficiency skills and qualify for a bi-weekly stipend that will vary based on the employee's level of proficiency and usage.

Job specific - every employee in this position must be able to:

- The tools, equipment, methods and materials used in construction, maintenance and repair, particularly as it relates to electrical equipment and building maintenance
- The occupational hazards involved and safety precautions necessary in the area of work assignments
- All state and local codes and regulations pertaining to electrical installations and equipment
- Work independently with minimum supervision, plan work schedules and adjust priorities as demands dictate, including process and equipment operations

- Skillfully use a variety of hand tools used in building repair

- Troubleshoot, repair and maintain electrical circuits in new and existing building electrical systems
- Demonstrate sufficient knowledge or learn necessary information and skill in a timely manner to:
- Perform monthly inspections of elevators and elevator equipment, as required by law
- Operate, maintain and test a variety of fire alarm control panels and their associated components including, but not limited to, duct detectors, smoke detectors and heat detectors
- Operate, maintain and test security camera, burglar alarm and electronic access control systems
- Ensure compliance with applicable codes and ordinances
- Demonstrate knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Demonstrate knowledge and troubleshooting of variable frequency drives
- Communicate clearly, plan, organize, and effectively lead a group of skilled workers in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale in rapidly changing situations under normal, stressful, and/or emergency situations
- Establish and maintain effective written and verbal communication skills, and build positive relationships and rapport with other team members within the work group, the division, the department, and across City employees
- Analyze situations quickly and objectively, recognizing established precedents and practices, and use resourcefulness in meeting new problems
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions, read and interpret sketches and blueprints, and perform routine mathematical calculations

Essential job functions, duties, responsibilities, and tasks:
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations and supervision of the maintenance staff as needed by the Maintenance Supervisor to include:
- Reads and interpret electrical plans and specifications for compliance with applicable state and local codes and ordinances; confer with electrical contractors regarding the design of new electrical installations as well as the alteration of existing electrical installations within the City
- Prepares and maintain necessary records and reports
- Maintains electrical, mechanical, and other equipment in a number of municipal buildings
- Operates various types of small tools and perform semi-skilled to skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of City facilities
- Maintains a computerized maintenance management system and the related equipment maintenance files, spare parts inventory, manpower and maintenance forecasting
- Requisitions parts and materials for needed repairs
- Works with outside contractors as needed for specialized repairs, modifications and workload management
- Performs:
- The installation, repair and preventative maintenance of electronics on control systems, electrical circuits and systems
