Secondary Social Studies Teacher

SECONDARY SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHER Anticipated Placement: Rombout Middle School This is a probationary, tenure-track position that begins at the start of the 2026-2027 school year. Minimum Qualifications Valid NYS Certification in Social Studies 7-12 required. Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the following are required: NYS Learning Standards and curriculum design, delivery, and assessment; Knowledge and/or prior experience with curriculum planning and development of Secondary Social Studies courses; Differentiated instruction to support the needs of diverse learners in the classroom; Community-Centered Learning: Foster strong partnerships with local businesses, entrepreneurs, and community organizations by coordinating field experiences and guest speakers; Project-Based and Student-Driven Instruction: Utilize inquiry-based and project-based learning strategies that encourage students to investigate community challenges, develop innovative solutions, collaborate with peers, and apply social studies concepts through hands-on entrepreneurial experiences; Career Readiness and Growth Mindset Development: Support students in goal-setting, reflection, ethical decision-making, and professional skill development by providing constructive feedback; Culturally responsive instructional practices for elementary classrooms; Integration of technology to plan, deliver, and assess student learning; Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, required; Prior teaching experience preferred; Background in Social Studies preferred.
