Performs a variety of diversified duties involving sonographic related procedures. Assists clinician under his/her direction. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures.
• Assists Radiologist with special procedures such as biopsies, utilizing specialized sonographic techniques.
• Prepares requisitions with codes, charges and pertinent information for billing and dictations.
• Maintains work stations and equipment.
• Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan.
• Instructs Radiology residents and students that rotate regularly through the department.
• Assists in the procurement of supplies.
• Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients.
• Types all applicable information into the computer system.
• Chaperone patients when necessary

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience: Minimum of one year experience

Licensure: ARDMS Certification or eligible

Physical Demand: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. They may frequently be required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. They may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation. They are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Incumbents as well as external and internal applicants who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without assistance of reasonable accommodation as determined on a case by case basis.
