Description The University of Chicago's Department of Pediatrics, Section of Academic Pediatrics, is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank in Child Abuse Medicine. Responsibilities Appointees will provide child abuse consultation within an established interdisciplinary process and participate in court-related activities as needed support the Multidisciplinary Pediatric Education and Evaluation Consortium (MPEEC) program by providing real-time expert medical consultation to child welfare and law enforcement for children reported for serious harm train pediatric residents and other leaners in the evaluation, diagnosis, and management of suspected child maltreatment provide education to trainees and other clinical leaders in Child Abuse Medicine and participate in activities that support the clinical and academic mission of Child Abuse Medicine These activities will occur at the University of Chicago's Comer Children's Hospital and affiliated sites Other duties will include teaching, supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity Academic rank and compensation are dependent upon qualifications. The University of Chicago Medical Center is designated as a Level 1 Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and operates a nationally recognized burn unit. Comer Children's Hospital is an integrated children’s hospital that offers a full complement of pediatric services with a total of 172 general pediatric, NICU, and PICU beds. The Department of Pediatrics includes over 170 full-time faculty members and postdoctoral researchers. In addition to teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, our faculty conducts cutting‑edge translational and clinical research. Child Advocacy and Protective Services (CAPS) The Comer Children’s Child Advocacy and Protective Services (CAPS) program, established in 1991, has a national reputation as a leader in the medical care of abused and neglected children. CAPS is primarily a hospital‑based consultation service. The core CAPS team includes three board‑certified physicians, a physician assistant, and a clinical social worker. More information about the CAPS program can be found at MPEEC MPEEC is a national landmark program that has received state support for over 18 years and is managed by CAPS staff, with case coordination supported by a full‑time investigations coordinator.
