CNC Programmer

Job Summary: Plan machining by studying blueprints, materials, specifications and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T). Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Fabricate tools, jigs and fixtures to support production of parts from blueprint sketches and/or verbal instructions from engineers. Setup and program CNC mills and lathes. Detect and report unusual conditions and special problem immediately to Supervisor. Move materials,containers, and equipment in performance of duties or as directed. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations. Keep work area in clean and orderly condition. Recognize and report any irregularities as to defective parts, equipment, work techniques and/or quality of workmanship. Diagnose and correct operating difficulties with assistance as needed. Perform daily minor maintenanceduties relative to equipment used. Job Skills & Abilities: Ability to design and create fixtures, to be able to run the job Calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs. Sets-up mills and lathes by installing tools, collets, indicating vices, appropriate fixturing, etc. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Be attentive to detail. Perform other duties as required or directed. Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent Certification in CNC programming is required Demonstrated proficiency with manual mills and lathes Demonstrated proficiency with inspection equipment Demonstrated ability to make a program set up a machine and run a part independently and proficiently on the CNC mill and lathe.
