Apply NOW for a FALL 2026 Internship! The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for an Intern position. Interns may work up to 19 hours per week for a period of up to one year. Internships may be available in: Mayor and City Council offices Engineering and Public Works Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Planning & Development Finance Human Resources Information Technology City Manager's Office Public Safety (Police, Fire) and more! Eligibility Requirements Currently enrolled full‑time or part‑time in an accredited college or university in an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral degree program; or; Obtained a degree within the last twelve (12) months; or; Must meet requirements as stipulated for an educational, certification, or licensure program. Applications must be received by Monday, June 8, 2026 at 5:00 PM PST and must include a completed application with the education section accurately filled out and responses to all supplemental questions. Examination Process The exam process will include, but may not be limited to: Application review for minimum qualifications and required documents (qualifying experience will be calculated based on the administrative review date) Supplemental questionnaire review Tests may consist of any combination of written, oral or other exercises or assessment procedures that test content and may include, but are not necessarily limited to, typing, math, reading, writing and analytical skills; problem‑solving ability; computer and software proficiency, or any other job‑related knowledge, skill, ability or qualification. The examination process and dates are subject to change. The City may, without notice, change or eliminate any assessment component as needs dictate.
