Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team. This position requires a strong background in emergency care, with a focus on teamwork and leadership within a high-volume and high-acuity environment. The RN will play a critical role in providing care to a diverse caseload, including trauma, stroke, pediatrics, and psychiatric patients.

Unit Information

• Unit: Emergency Room
• Number of Beds: 28 beds, including 4 fast track and 2 trauma bays
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Charting System: Cerner
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Rotational basis
• Scrub Color: Navy
• Average Daily Patients: Approximately 155

Key Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, high-quality emergency nursing care to patients arriving in critical condition.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including hospitalists and intensivists who are available 24/7.
• Administer emergency interventions, perform assessments, and formulate nursing diagnoses.
• Document patient care and responses using electronic medical records.
• Support and assist in the preparation and management of trauma patients.
• Lead and promote a positive teamwork environment within the ER.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the Emergency Room setting; travel experience is preferred.
• Certification in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NIHSS required.
• Preferred experience with Level II trauma care or higher.
• Strong ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Must be a team player with leadership qualities to foster collaboration and enhance team effort.

Schedule

Shifts are 12 hours long, with varied start times for day, mid, and night shifts. Self-scheduling is available with priorities based on seniority, and schedules are made at least 2 weeks in advance.

Additional Information

• No floating to other units.
• Orientation will consist of 2-3 shifts specific to the unit.
• A call rotation involves one day per month, with potential for additional shifts based on team scheduling.
