Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT)

An Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) is an entry-level professional pursuing a career in substance use disorder counseling. ADTs provide counseling, case management, and recovery support services under the supervision of a qualified Alcohol and Drug Supervisor. They primarily work with individuals experiencing less complex substance use disorders while developing the knowledge, skills, and clinical experience required for professional certification and advancement.

Compensation

Compensation for the Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) position is determined based on several factors, including:

• Years of experience working in the behavioral health or substance use disorder field.
• Length of time holding and maintaining an active Alcohol and Drug Trainee (ADT) registration or applicable licensure/certification.
• Relevant education, specialized training, and demonstrated professional competencies.

Compensation will be evaluated in accordance with organizational compensation guidelines and may be adjusted as employees gain experience, additional credentials, and increased responsibilities.

Sign-On Bonus

Eligible new hires will receive a $500.00 Sign-On Bonus , payable after the successful completion of 30 calendar days of continuous employment , provided the employee remains actively employed and in good standing at the time of payout. The sign-on bonus is subject to all applicable payroll taxes and deductions.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment and Evaluation

• Conduct comprehensive intake assessments and evaluations to determine a client's substance use disorder, level of care, and eligibility for services.

Treatment Planning

• Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients to establish measurable recovery goals and evidence-based interventions.

Individual and Group Counseling

• Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based practices to support recovery, relapse prevention, and healthy coping strategies.

Case Management

• Maintain an assigned caseload by monitoring client progress, coordinating referrals, linking clients with community resources, and adjusting treatment plans as clinically appropriate.

Documentation

• Maintain timely, accurate, and confidential clinical documentation in compliance with agency policies, COMAR regulations, CARF Accreditation Standards, HIPAA, and all applicable state and federal requirements.

Collaboration

• Work collaboratively with physicians, therapists, peer recovery specialists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated, comprehensive care.

Education and Support

• Provide education to clients and their families regarding substance use disorders, treatment options, recovery resources, relapse prevention, and wellness strategies.

Clinical Supervision

• Participate in regular supervision with a qualified Alcohol and Drug Supervisor, incorporating feedback to enhance clinical skills, professional development, and ethical practice.

Compliance

• Adhere to all applicable organizational policies and procedures, including COMAR regulations, CARF Accreditation Standards, HIPAA requirements, ethical guidelines, and all state and federal laws governing behavioral health services.
