Primary Care Physician (MD/DO) – Veterans Affairs (VA) Contract – Valor Healthcare, Inc.

The Green Bay Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare System urgently needs a contract Physician to join their team on a long‑term temporary basis. This is a great opportunity to help our nation's heroes while providing career flexibility and the potential to become a federal employee eventually.

Position Summary

As a Primary Care Physician, you will provide prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients with diseases and injuries seeking treatment in the clinic, as directed by physician or mid‑level provider. You will collaborate with the core PACT Team (Primary Care Provider, RN and Medical Assistant) and the expanded PACT Team including family/caregiver, VA, and community‑based services involved in developing the patient care plan.

Contract Details

• 1‑year contract with extensions each year up to 5 years in total.
• Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. schedule – no weekends, nights, on‑call, overtime, or holidays.
• Locations: support three sites as needed – Green Bay Health Care Center (HCC), 2851 University Avenue, Green Bay, WI 54311; Cleveland VA Clinic, 1205 North Avenue, Cleveland, WI 53015; Appleton VA Clinic, 10 Tri‑Park Way, Appleton, WI 54914.

Core Responsibilities

• Actively diagnose and treat veterans.
• Examine patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders, determine nature and extent of injury/disorder, and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
• Develop and implement patient management plans and assist in provision of continuity of care.
• Order and perform diagnostic tests.
• Prescribe medication and recommend dietary and activity programs as indicated by diagnosis.
• Counsel patients on prescription medication use, educate patients, assess mental health issues, and provide routine health maintenance.
• Evaluate patients’ records from external medical providers and work with these patients utilizing VA rules for co‑managed care.
• Complete any and all clinical reminders “due” at the time of each patient visit.
• Document the medical record within 24 hours of a patient encounter.
• Solicit medical management consult or input when appropriate.
• Comply with all VA guidelines regarding timely response to patient requests, alerts, consults, orders, lab results, and diagnostic studies.
• Comply with the VA formulary process and consult protocols.
• Serve as a collaborative physician to mid‑levels where appropriate and needed.
• Comply with VA guidelines for timely clinical documentation, including completion of all encounters by close of business.
• Address the clinical needs of walk‑in, triage, and urgent care patients.
• Comply with all VA and company training requirements.
• Comply with VA requirements related to women’s health certification and competencies, and any elements needed for maintenance of such certification.
• Fulfill compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission (JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance, and other related items.
• Remain focused on achieving excellent clinical outcomes through specified VA guidelines.
• Provide excellent customer service to veterans, colleagues, and clinic visitors, both in person and over the phone.
• Participate in the clinic’s outreach events to support enrollment initiatives.
• Support patient enrollment and retention by providing guidance on scheduling, follow‑up visits, or nurse visits.
• Embrace and support new clinical or operational initiatives and execute key strategic initiatives that drive Valor’s success.

Requirements

• 2 years of post‑residency internal medicine or family medicine experience within the last 3 years.
• Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine Degree (MD/DO).
• Board certified (BC) or eligible (BE) in family practice or internal medicine.
• Valid, unrestricted license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia.
• Current certification in Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
• Current, unrestricted DEA registration.
• Excellent EMR and computer skills.
