Emergency Department Technician

Performs EKGs and phlebotomy as needed in the department within the scope of the NA II.Responsibilities: Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Insures that contacts with other health care members are friendly, helpful, and courteous.Other information:High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nursing Assistant II course. Completes the EKG and phlebotomy on the job training.Professional Experience Requirement:Two years of health care experience preferred.Licensure/Registration/Certification:Certified by the State Board of Nursing as a NA II, and BLS certification.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements:Good interpersonal, communication, and observation skills are essential. Understanding of patient care needs according to developmental stages for various age groups.Work Environment:Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of protective equipment; exposure to other infectious diseases. Exposure to chemicals utilized to clean and disinfect equipment.Physical Requirements:Working and standing throughout the shift. Lifting, pulling, turning, and pushing patients daily.
