Position Highlights

• Pay: +$38.00 an hour.
• Location: Los Angeles, CA
• Contract Type: 1 base year with 3, 1-year option periods

Requirements

• Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
• College or School for Clinical Neurophysiology & EEG 2-year course or Bachelor of Science (BS).
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• EEG certification - Registration is offered by the American Board of Registration of EEG, CNIM, and EP Technologists (ABRET) or the American Association of Electrodiagnostic Techs (AAET).
• Board Qualification at the least, Diplomate of the American Board of Registered EEG preferred technologist or have documented experience of having performed at least 200 EEG's, documented experience in Long Term Monitoring and ICU readings, and/or completed all courses offered by ABRET online.
• Knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.
• Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

What does a typical day look like for the EEG Technologist?

You will:

• Independently perform: Routine and non-standard procedures. (EEG and EP). These include Awake, Sleep, Portable, and ECS.
• Routine and specialized procedures.
• Routine long-term monitoring, LTM/CCTV EEG monitoring. These include extended 10/20 electrode placement.
• Perform as an expert EEG technologist, maintaining state-of-the-art quality in the principles, practices, and procedures associated with Electroencephalography.
• Shall operate Nihon Khoden biomedical computer equipment and software used for routine EEG's and Long Term Monitoring and intraoperative electrocorticogram.
• Perform high-quality studies for complex and non-routine procedures in difficult and demanding environments such as the operating room, research, or intensive care environments.
• Report specific patient outcome information, such as complications to the Service Line Chief.
• All testing performed requires on-line analysis by the technologist to obtain the necessary data for the correct diagnosis of the patient.
• Work closely with the physicians from the Neurology Service and the Epilepsy Center of Excellence.
• Utilize sophisticated equipment and associated electronics to obtain continuous video-EEG monitoring in patients with undiagnosed spells.
• Follows established laboratory and/or hospital guidelines in completing "administrative duties" for each test performed.

If selected, candidates will need to complete credentialing and onboarding requirements consistent with VA medical staff processes.
