Our client is looking for a Production Supervisor in Sterling Heights, MI!

This contract opportunity (possible extension or direct hire for the right candidate) offers a starting pay rate range of $31.00 to $33.64/hour (benefits are available).

Position is 100% onsite. 

Only candidates that are available to work ANY shift will be considered for this opportunity. 

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for managing small work teams in a fast-paced, high volume, unionized, manufacturing environment. The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring team safety; building teams and training / allocating manpower; driving and implementing continuous improvement solutions to improve product quality and reach throughput and cost targets; and ensuring team morale.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure the production plan is met, analyzes issues with other roles, drives and implements continuous improvement activities and sustainability of solutions inside the Zone. A Zone may consist of multiple production lines and up to approximately 30 employees, requiring ownership of all safety, quality, and throughput objectives within that area.
  2. Ensure a safe workplace, leads the Team to improve Safety in the area and enforces the use of mandated Safety tools and procedures. Safety is a critical focus area within the body shop environment.
  3. Understand losses during the Shift, use the Stellantis Industrial Systems tools and methodology to improve Zone performances. Demonstrate an understanding of manufacturing process flow, bottlenecks, alarms, fault conditions, and escalation procedures to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
  4. Proactively analyze quality KPIs related to the Zone, prioritizes quality issues and properly guides Team Leaders. Understanding basic welding principles, including identifying good versus bad welds, is highly beneficial.
  5. Ensure the right allocation of the people on the line, manages absenteeism, trains and builds teams.
  6. Possess knowledge of the broader manufacturing organization and have the ability to mobilize support groups and resources to lead and assist in problem-solving activities. Candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of manufacturing equipment, conveyors, automation systems, and maintenance concepts will be highly valued.
  7. Actively participate and lead kaizen project activities centered on Safety, Cost, Quality, and Throughput improvements and waste reduction opportunities identified through cost deployment.
  8. Drive a sense of urgency within the operation and proactively respond to production interruptions to ensure output targets are achieved. Successful candidates will demonstrate accountability, curiosity, and a customer-first mindset when resolving issues impacting downstream operations.

Requirements

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Ability to work any shift and overtime as required
  3. Excellent organization, written and oral communication skills
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interface with various levels of employees within all areas of the Plant from hourly represented employees to Senior Leadership as required
  5. Ability to build effective business relationships with plant leadership and customers
  6. Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  7. Goal-oriented self-starter with ability to lead teams
  8. Ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
  9. Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  10. Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to production needs
  11. Ability to spend extended periods on the production floor, including walking throughout the facility and climbing stairs as required

Preferred Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  2. 2 or more years’ experience in supervision in a high-volume environment
  3. Experience in welding (resistance spot welding) and robotic applications
  4. Experience with robotics controls, automation systems, conveyors, or related manufacturing technologies
  5. Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor/develop team members
  6. Previous experience working in a union environment
  7. Experience in continuous improvement systems and lean manufacturing
  8. Good working knowledge of Microsoft Suite software programs
  9. Experience in automotive manufacturing, body shop operations, or stamping environments preferred
  10. Understanding of manufacturing process flow, bottleneck management, downtime reduction, and production recovery activities
  11. Candidates with maintenance-related experience, mechanical aptitude, or exposure to highly automated manufacturing operations are strongly encouraged to apply
