Parts Manager – Commercial Truck Dealership

Full-Time | Monday–Friday
Reports to: General Manager
$65,000–$85,000 annually, based on experience, plus monthly bonus program

Position Overview

Quality Truck Center is seeking an experienced, hands-on Parts Manager to take ownership of our commercial truck and equipment parts department.

This position is primarily responsible for independently running the department, from sourcing and purchasing to inventory control, customer sales, and warranty claims. We’re looking for an organized, resourceful professional who takes initiative, controls costs, and keeps our technicians and customers supplied with the right parts when they need them.

We sell and service commercial trucks and equipment, working with brands including Hino, Cummins, Mitsubishi Fuso, Dennis Eagle, and AirFlo.

Responsibilities

• Daily Operations: Manage purchasing, receiving, pricing, quoting, and sales for service department, retail, wholesale, and fleet customers.
• Parts Identification: Accurately identify OEM and aftermarket parts using VINs, electronic catalogs, technical diagrams, and supplier resources.
• Competitive Sourcing: Actively research and compare suppliers to secure the best pricing and sourcing options, considering quality, availability, freight costs, and delivery time. Negotiate discounts and purchasing terms.
• Service Support: Work closely with service advisors and technicians to anticipate parts needs, keep repairs moving, and minimize downtime.
• Inventory Control: Maintain balanced stock levels and accurate inventory records. Monitor inventory turnover, conduct cycle counts, reduce obsolete stock, and manage returns and cores.
• Order Follow-Through: Track special orders and backorders, communicate delivery updates, locate alternative sources, and resolve order discrepancies and billing issues.
• Warranty Claims: Prepare and submit warranty claims, maintain required documentation, meet submission deadlines, and follow claims through resolution and payment.
• Profitability: Monitor parts sales, costs, and gross profit margins. Adjust pricing and purchasing practices to support department financial goals.
• Customer Relationships and Sales: Provide responsive, knowledgeable service, strengthen relationships with commercial and fleet accounts, and identify opportunities to grow retail and wholesale parts sales.
• Vendor and OEM Relations: Maintain strong relationships with manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers, including compliance with applicable ordering, tracking, return, and warranty requirements.
• Department Organization: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized parts department.

Qualifications

• Previous parts management experience in a commercial truck, heavy equipment, or automotive dealership environment.
• Strong knowledge of medium- and heavy-duty truck components, OEM and aftermarket parts, and parts-ordering networks.
• Experience with competitive sourcing, purchasing, inventory management, and parts pricing.
• Ability to evaluate supplier options and negotiate favorable pricing and terms.
• Proficiency with dealership management systems, electronic parts catalogs, and inventory software.
• Understanding of sales, gross profit margins, inventory turnover, and department financial performance.
• Experience preparing and submitting warranty claims preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, customer service, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take responsibility for department results.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to handle all aspects of daily parts operations.
