The Opportunity

Advanced Elite Staffing is hiring a Chief Financial Officer to lead our finance function as we grow across the Southeast. You will set the financial strategy, lead the team, guide our systems, and be the leader ownership trusts to tell them exactly where the business stands and where it can go.

Staffing is a cash-intensive business. We pay a large contingent workforce every week, bill clients from approved timesheets, carry workers' compensation exposure across skilled trades and industrial roles, and earn margin on the spread between pay rates and bill rates. Payroll goes out before receivables come in. The right CFO understands that rhythm and turns it into a competitive advantage as we grow.

You will report directly to ownership, sit on the executive leadership team, and lead a remote finance department that includes a Controller, Payroll Specialist, Accounts Receivable and Billing Specialist, and Full-Charge Bookkeeper.

What You Will Lead

Strategy and Executive Partnership

• Serve as a strategic partner to ownership on growth, pricing, expansion, and capital decisions
• Build the long-range financial plan and the operating model that supports it
• Evaluate new markets, new offices, new service lines, and potential acquisitions
• Present clear, honest financial insight to ownership, lenders, and key partners

Financial Planning and Analysis

• Lead the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts, and scenario planning
• Build KPI dashboards covering gross margin, gross profit per hour, DSO, fill rates, recruiter productivity, and client profitability
• Analyze pay rate to bill rate spreads, burden, and markup by client, industry, and placement type
• Guide pricing strategy for new client agreements, rate increases, and direct hire fees

Capital, Cash, and Treasury

• Own cash flow forecasting, including a rolling 13-week forecast tied to weekly payroll funding
• Secure and manage credit facilities, receivables financing, or asset-based lending as the business scales
• Lead banking, lender, and insurance carrier relationships
• Set working capital targets and drive collections performance

Accounting, Controls, and Compliance

• Oversee the close, GAAP financial statements, and the monthly reporting package through the Controller
• Design internal controls and segregation of duties that fit a growing company
• Oversee multi-state payroll tax, state unemployment, sales and use tax, and annual tax filings with outside CPAs
• Manage workers' compensation, general liability, and other insurance programs, including premium audits and renewals
• Support the financial and compliance expectations of aerospace, defense, and government-adjacent clients
• Prepare the company for financial reviews, audits, and lender reporting

Risk Management

Monitor client credit risk and set credit limits and terms

Identify and manage concentration, cash, compliance, and insurance risk

Strengthen contract terms with legal counsel on payment, liability, and conversion fees

Team, Systems, and Process

Lead and develop the finance department in a remote environment

Select and implement accounting, payroll, time, and billing platforms built for staffing

Automate manual processes and document every core finance procedure

Build a culture of accuracy, accountability, and clear communication

Your First 90 Days

• First 30 days: Learn the business, our clients, our recruiters, and our current financial position. Map how time, payroll, billing, and cash move through the company.
• By 60 days: Deliver a cash forecast, a margin analysis by client, and an initial finance roadmap to ownership.
• By 90 days: Have a reliable monthly reporting package, a budget framework in place, and a clear plan for systems, controls, and capital.

What You Bring

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including 5+ years in a CFO, VP of Finance, or Controller role
• Deep knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Proven experience managing cash flow and working capital in a business with high weekly payroll
• Experience negotiating and managing banking relationships and credit facilities
• Hands-on experience with multi-state payroll tax and insurance programs
• A track record of building and leading finance teams, including remote teams
• Strong financial modeling skills and the ability to explain numbers in plain language

Preferred

• CPA and/or MBA
• CFO or senior finance experience in staffing, recruiting, a PEO, or another labor-intensive services business
• Experience with staffing back-office platforms such as Avionte, Bullhorn, TempWorks, or similar
• Experience with receivables financing, asset-based lending, or mergers and acquisitions
• Exposure to aerospace, defense, construction, or government contractor clients

Work Setup

• Fully remote within the United States
• Core hours aligned with Central Time to support Huntsville leadership and our weekly payroll cycle
• Occasional travel to Huntsville for leadership meetings

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary of $220,000 to $260,000 per year
