Job Overview Under the direct supervision of the Store Management team, the Professional Color Advisor (Color Consultant) is our go-to expert for assisting with designing color schemes and palettes for homeowners. In addition, Professional Color Advisors are responsible for providing superior customer service. We only hire Interior Design graduates or students currently enrolled in a degree program, so our customers are assured they are receiving professional advice from someone who can speak specifically to the elements and principles of design. This is an in-store role with opportunities to participate in community events and trade shows.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be professional and have a positive attitude at all times Make a connection with customers and give educated advice based on information gained from conversations with the customer Attend training classes and monthly store meetings to discuss matters of improving Color Advisor department operations Learn and utilize Dunn‑Edwards sales aids such as: Specification Guide, Dunn‑Edwards Perfect Palette Color System, computer renderings using Adobe Photoshop, Product Information Sheets, and Safety Data Sheets Have the ability to understand different lighting sources and how they relate to changes in color Develop product knowledge by utilizing corporate training tools, pamphlets and attending training classes to communicate effectively with the customer Be in-view and readily available to assist customers on the sales floor Be capable and willing to perform specifically assigned job duties, including processing orders over telephone and in-person, operating cash register, and carrying out paint to customer vehicle Consistently participate in store maintenance and store housekeeping Offer feedback to management regarding Color Advisor issues, customer service issues, and suggestions on training needs for employees Keep appointment schedules and logs pertaining to in-store consultations and inform the manager or supervisor of all scheduled appointments and rendering responsibilities to ensure proper coverage Work independently and as a team player Multi-task in a retail setting and meet deadlines when necessary Drive own vehicle to assigned business units and various meetings and events (legal driving)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

There are no employees who report directly to this job. Part of the job is to train store sales associates to assist in color design, recommendations, and techniques.

LANGUAGE/COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS

Ability to read, write, and communicate in English (required) Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to read and interpret professional publications Ability to produce reports and business correspondence Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals and groups Bilingual is a plus

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) (required) Interior Design degree or currently enrolled in a degree program (required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Store and Outside Sales positions may have physical requirements that include lifting items from 5 to 75 pounds, using electronic equipment such as computers and point of sale devices, driving a large delivery truck/vehicle, climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces (e.g., active construction sites), interacting with customers face-to-face and on the telephone, standing for long periods, and using a respirator. Opening shifts may start as early as 5:00 am, closing shifts may end as late as 6:30 pm. Workdays vary depending on location; some are open 7 days per week.
