Job Summary:
As the Bore Locator , you will ultimately be responsible for locating underground utilities, supporting directional drilling operations, and ensuring safe and accurate bore path execution. You will coordinate with drill operators and field crews to deliver underground telecommunications infrastructure projects efficiently and safely. As the Bore Locator, your customers are broadband operators and utility providers, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through precision, safety compliance, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to):

• Identify and mark underground utility lines including water, gas, electric, and telecommunications systems using locating equipment

• Operate excavation equipment such as mini excavators, trenchers, bore machines, and hydro-vac equipment

• Walk and confirm bore paths with drill operators while spotting utilities and ensuring proper clearances

• Record bore depth logs and monitor drill head positioning to support product installation

• Place conduit and cables in trenches, install couplers, and place pedestals, vaults, and ground rods as required

• Operate hand tools and equipment such as tamps, jackhammers, core drills, concrete saws, shovels, and digging bars safely

• Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs

Required Qualifications:

Education, Licensing, and Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• OSHA 10 certification required

Experience

• 1+ years of underground utility locating or construction experience

• Experience in telecommunications or CATV construction preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills

• Ability to read construction drawings and follow specifications

• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

• Strong oral communication skills

• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended hours when required

• Ability to safely operate construction machinery in various weather and terrain conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

• CATV / Spectrum experience

• Mini excavator and excavation training

• Concrete finishing and asphalt restoration experience

• Bucket truck certifications and training

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.

• Ability to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl for extended periods

• Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions

• Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces

• Ability to wear required PPE including safety boots, safety glasses, hardhat, and other safety gear

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
