Non-CDL DriverReports To: Director of TransportationDepartment/School: TransportationDuty Days: 172Wage/Hour Status: Non-ExemptPrimary Purpose: Support transportation operations by operating multi-purpose or white fleet vehicles to transport students and other authorized personnel to and from schools and homes inside and outside of the school district.QualificationsEducation/Certification: High School Diploma or GED-preferred but not requiredValid Driver's Licence Class CSuccessful completion of behind-the-wheel trainingSuccessful completion of a 20-hour Texas Department of Public Safety Certification courseFirst Aid and CPR CertificationSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to maintain an acceptable driving recordBe able to maintain the confidentiality of all recordsAbility to communicate effectively orally and in written form with all levels of management both internal and externalCapable of assessing situations in emergencies quickly and reacting with necessary measures for the protection and well-being of the passengersAbility to follow written and verbal instructions in EnglishAbility to effectively communicate with parents and school personnelAbility to manage studentsExperience: Must be at least 21 years of age2 years of vehicle driving experienceMajor Responsibilities and DutiesReport to work in accordance with assigned work schedulePerform and document a pre-trip and post-trip inspection on every vehicle driven according to approved Splendora ISD and National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration guidelines and report all defects in writing to the shop immediatelyExercise caution and safety while driving, following all traffic laws and safety guidelinesFollow the assigned route as written and communicate changes to the appropriate staffEnsure student safety while loading and unloading studentsMaintain student discipline to ensure the safety of students being transported, address student discipline issues using approved techniques and communicate with school personnel regarding student behaviorReport and complete all required documentation for vehicle collisions, vehicle damage and student injuriesDocumenting and reporting inappropriate and unacceptable behaviorBe aware of all student's disabilities and special needs. Any medical problems experienced by the students while being transported, must be reported by the driver and/or special needs aide to the Director. Followed up with a written report.Complying with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA) to assure student records, behavior and readership confidentialityMaintaining and updating student records on a timely basisRecognizing evidence of abuse and neglectMaintain confidentiality in all matters concerning student transportationTo cooperate with supervisory staffAttend safety meetings and other training as necessaryOther duties as assignedSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsPosture: Frequent standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting; work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.Motion: Frequent walking; frequent climbing, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension and overhead reaching; frequent driving.Lifting: Heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds and over) on a daily basis.Environment: Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust and noise. May work alone, regularly work irregular hour and occasional prolonged hours
