Accounts Receivable Specialist We are currently hiring an Accounts Receivable Specialist for the Belleville, IL office. Position Summary Pay: $23.47 hourly. Full‑time, non‑exempt, 40 hours weekly/80 hours bi‑weekly. Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Location: 305 South Illinois Street, Belleville, IL 62220. This is not a remote position. Responsibilities Demonstrate understanding of patient billing process in Suncoast and Great Plains, including the reconciliation process. File claims electronically and manually based on financial class submission requirements in a timely manner. Understand and post payments/adjustments accurately and on time to patient accounts. Complete accurate general ledger journal entries. Manage all aspects of claim filing, including correcting errors and resubmissions. Maintain knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid programs and regulations. Assist with accounts receivable review, identify and resolve claim issues and follow up with insurance companies. Understand authorization processes for all payor sources. Comprehend the Nursing Home Medicaid Room & Board billing process and resolve problematic claims. Know Medicare and Direct Pay billing, including deductibles and co‑pays; interact with patients/families as needed. Enter and manage claims in DDE, Medi, Medicaid HMO portals, and Claims Management Pro. Understand benefit periods and certification/recertification processes; submit re‑certifications. Create Medicare Notice of Elections (81As) and terminations (81Bs) in Suncoast Solutions, CMS Data Entry, and submit Medicaid Notices of Elections (1592) and terminations (1594) to Illinois Medicaid and HMO’s. Apply basic accounting principles accurately. Use telephone system and call/message forwarding protocol. Problem‑solve: identify issues, design and propose solutions to improve processes. Ensure accuracy and detail orientation. Work cooperatively in a team to meet deadlines and goals. Plan and organize work, set priorities, and manage time realistically. Communicate clearly; articulate thoughts and ideas. Follow through on projects, goals and job duties timely and accurately. Exemplify Hospice of Southern Illinois core values. Document timesheet accurately. Manage Paid Time Off; submit online requests in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned. Visual clarity >20 inches and Working Conditions: 100% of time in an air‑conditioned environment with varying exposure to excessive humidity and noise. Qualifications Education Graduate of an accredited high school. Associate degree from an accredited college preferred. Experience Three (3) years accounts receivable experience preferred. Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and medical insurance billing experience. Other Qualifications Proven experience with Medicare and Medicaid. Ability to calculate, post and manage outstanding receivables. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Work independently, prioritize multiple tasks. Accurately record and transmit detailed information. Interpret and comply with claim submission requirements. Works well under firm deadlines. Capable of making timely, independent decisions.
