Health Technician

Duties

Conducts intake procedures. Provides health care to a range of patients presenting with complex or multiple systems dysfunctions and/or disorders. Addresses health promotion topics with patients. Responds as a member of the emergency response team (ERT) for medical emergencies. Performs procedures within the scope of practice to include EKGs, Ear Irrigations, Swabs, sterile dressing application and packing, enemas, suture/staple application and removal. Assists physician in performing diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures ranging from routine to specialized. Ensures medical records are prepared and available. Ensures proper computer entry of patient data and equipment settings. Ensures the sterile condition and adequacy of supplies in patient care areas and storage rooms. Obtains general medical information, including allergies and drug sensitivities. Takes vital signs. Records vital signs. Applies orthopedic splints as prescribed by physician.
