Apply now for this exciting opportunity!The Automation Engineer II is responsible for leading or supporting design, installation, and qualification of new manufacturing equipment and improvement/optimization of existing manufacturing equipment. The engineer in this role will also provide technical expertise to resolve manufacturing equipment and automation issues.Key ResponsibilitiesCollaborates with other plant functions and external vendors to support design of new manufacturing equipment or modify existing manufacturing equipment in accordance with regulatory, industry, and J&J standards.Effectively and safely manages or supports projects to meet business objectives, including quality, financial, EH&S, and performance goals.Supports qualification coordination and execution of new and/or improved manufacturing equipment and automation systems.Leads or supports quality and safety investigations related to equipment. Achieves timely closure of corrective actions.Supports evaluations of new technologies to improve process safety, quality, reliability, and efficiency.Prepares oral and written technical reports and project updatesCoordinates training of personnel on equipment operation and maintenanceAnalyzes maintenance trends in area of responsibility to support asset investment strategyOrganizes and presents Capital Appropriation Requests (CAR) for project scope and funding.Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and proceduresAdheres to J&J environmental and safety policies and guidelines.Accountable to the Johnson and Johnson Standards of Leadership (Credo Values, customer/Marketplace Focus, Innovation, Masters complexity, and Organizational and People Development).Experience and Education:Required & Preferred Skills:Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment, OR Advanced Degree (M.S.) with relevant Internship or co-op experienceProject management experience is preferred. PMP or similar product management credential is a plus.Experience developing and maintaining engineering design documentation and drawings is preferred.Experience with industrial control systems (PLC/DCS), servomotors, inspection and vision systems, instrumentation, SCADA networks, and/or MES systems is strongly preferred. Willingness to learn industrial control systems is essential. Programming/coding experience is preferredExperience in medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or other regulated industry is preferred. Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and FDA CFR 21 Part 11 is helpful.Lean and/or Six Sigma certification is preferredExcellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.Strong problem solving skillsKnowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required.This position will be primarily located in Cornelia, GA but some onsite support in Athens, GA may also be required. 10% travel domestically may be required.Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
