Job Requirements Age between 21 and 35 years, unless permitted by law United States Citizen High school graduate or GED Valid Illinois driver's license Ability to read and speak English Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or honorable discharge from the United States military Successful completion of the Police Officer Wellness Evaluation Report (POWER) test on or after May 30, 2024, at one of the following testing facilities: Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy (NIPSTA) – Glenview Joliet Junior College – Joliet Hiring Process Schedule and complete the Public Safety Self‑Assessment and Frontline National Exam through National Testing Network before the application deadline. Complete the Village of South Barrington Police Officer Application online. Interview with the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. Submit Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ). Background investigation, polygraph exam, psychological exam, and physical exam. The Police Commission reserves the right to terminate any applicant at any point in the hiring process. The test requires candidates to complete the following activities: Sit and reach test One repetition maximum bench press One minute sit-up test 1.5‑mile run The test is graded on a pass/fail basis.
