Van DriverThe job of Van Driver is done for the purpose of transporting students over scheduled routes and/or to/from special excursions; ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition; and ensuring safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from vans.Essential Functions:Advises students and other passengers of appropriate behaviorAssesses incidents, complaints, accidents and/or potential emergency situationsAssists students and other passengers; attends meetings, trainings, etc.Cleans assigned vehicles, both interior and exterior; conducts emergency evacuation drillsDrives school van/sFuels assigned vehicle, (e.g. oil, water, fuel, etc.)Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections, (e.g. fluid levels, tire pressure, exterior condition, etc.)Prepares documents and reports, (e.g. field trip reports, incident reports, inspections records, passenger misconduct, mileage logs, student counts, etc.)Reports observations and/or incidents, (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.)Responds to inquiries, (e.g. students, parents, other school personnel, etc.)Supervises students and other passengers during transitAssists other personnel as may be requiredQualifications:Experience desiredAlcohol and Drug TestCriminal justice fingerprint/background clearanceRandom Drug TestingAbility to read, write and communicate clearly in English25 - 40 hours depending on route. This a 10-month position only.
