Job Description

This position is responsible for assessing the needs of surgical patients before and during procedures while ensuring patient safety. The RN will create individual care plans, implement, evaluate, and document care during surgical procedures and provide leadership to the operating room team. Effective communication with patients, families, and various team members is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess the needs of surgical patients and develop specific care plans, implementing and evaluating care throughout the procedure, prioritizing patient safety.
• Supervise activities in the operating room, anticipate and coordinate schedule changes, assemble equipment and supplies, assist anesthesia as necessary, and monitor the sterile field.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, operating room teams, and ancillary departments.
• Participate in staff development through attendance at in-services and educational opportunities.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ Years of RN Operating Room Experience - Required
• Level 2 Trauma Experience - Required
• Proficiency in Orthopedics, Vascular, Neuro, General/Gynecological, and Urology - Required
• Recent travel work experience - Highly Preferred
• Active American Heart Association BLS Certification - Required
• Current Michigan RN License (LARA and/or Nursys must state Active) - Required
• 2 Supervisory Reference Forms completed within the last two years - Required
