MGA Program Executive

Job Description:
A highly capitalized investment-backed holding company is seeking an MGA Program Executive. This highly entrepreneurial leader will design, build and lead an MGA from the ground up. The title and scope (e.g., CEO, Head of MGA, Program Executive) will be tailored to the individual, but the mandate is clear: create and scale a profitable, market-leading MGA platform. This individual will partner directly with the organization’s leadership to define the strategy, build the product, secure carrier backing and stand up the full operating infrastructure. This is a retained search.
Architect the overall MGA structure, including operating model, product strategy and go-to-market approach
Evaluate optimal structures (MGA vs. hybrid models, carrier partnerships, program design)
Define underwriting philosophy leveraging data and risk mitigation capabilities
Design and launch a specialty commercial property product (initial focus: multifamily)
Integrate real-world risk controls (water, fire, safety technologies) into underwriting and pricing
Develop guidelines, pricing frameworks and portfolio strategy
Identify and secure carrier/reinsurance partners
Structure program economics and capacity agreements
Serve as the primary interface with underwriting partners
Establish operational infrastructure, including compliance, filings and workflows
Build and lead a team (underwriting, operations, technology) over time
Implement systems and tools to support a modern, data-driven MGA
Develop scalable distribution strategies beyond the existing network
Position the MGA as a differentiated offering within a crowded P&C landscape
Act as a key advisor to leadership on the insurance strategy
Continuously assess market fit, profitability and scalability
Help shape the long-term evolution of the platform (additional products, expanded services, embedded insurance models)
Requirements:
Deep commercial property and casualty expertise, multifamily/property experience (preferred)
Proven MGA experience, ideally building, scaling or launching programs
Demonstrated experience in underwriting, with a strong grasp of risk assessment, pricing discipline, coverage analysis and portfolio management; ability to make sound underwriting decisions aligned with appetite, while balancing growth and profitability objectives; CPCU (preferred)
Strong understanding of carrier relationships, program structures and underwriting economics
Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to build from zero (strategy + execution)
Comfortable operating in a high-growth, unstructured environment
Technology and data fluency, with interest in insurtech and modern underwriting approaches
Strong executive presence with the ability to operate as both strategist and builder
