Patient Care Coordinator
New York, NY | Onsite | $19.00/hour | Full-Time Temporary Assignment
We are seeking an organized, patient-focused Patient Care Coordinator to support an Optum Care Delivery location in New York City. This is a fully onsite role in a fast-paced healthcare environment where you will serve as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and clinical staff.
The Patient Care Coordinator will help ensure a smooth patient experience by supporting front desk operations, scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, medical records, and other administrative functions that contribute to patient satisfaction and the overall success of the practice.

$19.00 per hour
Some travel may be required to support other nearby locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet, check in, and check out patients
- Obtain and update patient information, including demographics and insurance details
- Perform insurance verification on the date of service
- Obtain required patient signatures and documentation
- Confirm and schedule patient appointments
- Answer incoming and outgoing telephone calls promptly and professionally
- Maintain medical records, including filing, faxing, scanning, and document retrieval
- Monitor fax servers and route documents to the appropriate electronic medical record
- Maintain front desk work queues and in-basket pools
- Complete pending tasks related to referrals and appointment scheduling
- Document referrals accurately and promptly
- Schedule specialist appointments and provide appropriate follow-up to patients
- Support continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and other healthcare professionals
- Follow Optum payment security policies and procedures
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and OSHA requirements
- Work collaboratively with providers, Medical Assistants, Nurses, Patient Service Associates, and other clinical staff
- Cross-train and provide coverage at other locations as needed
- Perform additional administrative and patient-support duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
- Previous experience in a healthcare, medical office, patient services, front desk, or administrative environment preferred
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced healthcare setting
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic systems
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information appropriately
- Dependable, professional, and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Work Environment
You will work alongside a diverse team of approximately 21 professionals, including providers, Medical Assistants, RNs/LPNs, Patient Service Associates, and diagnostic staff. The environment is collaborative, fast-paced, and focused on providing a high-quality patient experience.
