About the Clinician's Workday The nurse practitioner will assist with cardiothoracic surgery cases, including approximately 10-11 heart surgeries per month as well as additional thoracic cases. Daily morning rounds are conducted, with the clinician writing postoperative notes on patients - a duty that is at times shared with the attending surgeons. The facility maintains a census of fewer than 10 inpatients at a time. Follow-up clinic is held Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at the hospital, with up to 6 patients seen per session; occasional urgent follow-ups may be scheduled outside of standard clinic days. Weekend call coverage is required for this assignment.
