Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Urbana, Illinois.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Sep 14, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a 13-week assignment requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic experience.Details\n \n Inpatient overflow Med/Surg unit at a Level 1 Trauma hospital\n 12-hour day shifts, 7:00AM to 7:30PM, 3 days per week\n 36 hours per week\n Uses Epic charting system\n 6 weekend shifts required per 6-week schedule\n 3 holiday shifts required per year\n No on-call requirements\n Requirements\n \n Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)\n Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)\n Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience\n ASN required, BSN preferred\n Level 1 Trauma facility experience required\n Epic EMR charting experience required\n Strong critical thinking, documentation, and time management skills\n Experience with medication administration and interdisciplinary collaboration\n Additional Information\n \n Provide direct patient care including assessments, care planning, medication administration, and patient education\n Receive bedside shift report and validate safe patient room environment at each shift change\n Delegate and validate completion of patient care tasks assigned to HCTs\n Maintain patient safety through fall precautions, isolation precautions, and pressure ulcer prevention protocols\n Support quick admission and discharge processes for observation status patients\n Promote a positive, collaborative, and healing work environment\n Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted\n RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract\n Prior Carle Health contingent workers must complete a 6-month break in service if previously on assignment for more than 1 year\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-745805.
