RN Infection Preventionist (IP)

LPN or RN Infection Preventionist (IP) Salary: $70,000 – $80,000 Per Year Benefits Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance Life Insurance Disability Insurance 401K Holiday Pay Paid Time Off Position Summary The Infection Control Coordinator assists and supports the translation of the nursing philosophy of the facility into nursing practice by participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care delivery system. In addition, he/she provides residents and personnel with established guidelines to follow in the prevention and spread of contagious, infectious, or communicable disease. Responsibilities / Accountabilities Establishes guidelines for prevention and spread of contagious, infectious or communicable disease. Assists with monitoring for a sanitary environment for facility personnel, residents, and visitors. Ensures that all infection control policies and procedures are implemented and followed. Coordinates regular in‑services on infection control practice at least quarterly. Assumes responsibility for detecting and reworking nosocomial infections on a systematic and current basis. Conducts surveillance of all departments pertinent to infection control practices. Performs investigation of all significant clusters of infection. Recommends changes to corporate policies and procedures for the Infection Control Manual. Conducts rounds throughout nursing facility to assure compliance with State, Federal and Prospect Heights Care Facility guidelines; reports findings to the Director of Nursing and to the Administrator. Arranges physicals for all new employees and schedules follow‑up medical reviews/PPDs in accordance with state/federal regulations. Maintains active involvement in facility Quality Improvement Policy. Ensures the safety of all facility residents in order to minimize the potential for fire and accidents; ensures adherence to legal, safety, health, fire and sanitation codes. Ensures residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere that recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights. Performs other duties as requested. Educational / Vocational Requirements Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current registered nurse licensure by the NJ State Board of Nursing; must be a Registered Nurse. Minimum of three years full‑time or equivalent clinical experience; preferred minimum of two years in long‑term care nursing with one year in a management/administrative or supervisory capacity. Annual attendance of an Infection Control Seminar and comprehension of Windsor Gardens Care Center Infection Control Manual. Job Skills Thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques and practices. Knowledge of specialized procedures and equipment used in the assigned area. Knowledge of dietetic, sanitation and personal hygiene. Skill in handling and manipulating instruments and equipment. Understanding of basic nursing and infection control practice and procedures. Reasonable working knowledge of principles of epidemiology and infectious diseases. Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public. Provides annual verification of a negative TB skin test. Related Duties The Assistant Director of Nursing/IP relieves the Director of Nursing in his/her absence; interacts with residents, families, visitors and employees.
