This role combines general labor and forklift operation in a busy, highly industrial facility. You will sort and grade metals, handle incoming materials, and work directly with customers while operating in an outdoor and warehouse environment that is often exposed to the elements. The position emphasizes safety, hands-on work, and continuous skills development, including formal safety training and progressive forklift training.

Responsibilities

• Complete an initial safety training program over the first three days and successfully pass required safety certifications before operating equipment.
• Work alongside an experienced team member in the sorting warehouse to learn and identify different alloys and metal products received at the facility.
• Sort and grade metals accurately according to established standards and procedures.
• Work directly with customers to receive and process incoming products, ensuring a professional and helpful experience.
• Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily material handling tasks.
• Operate sit-down, gas-powered forklifts safely and efficiently once fully trained and certified.
• Perform general material handling duties, including inventory support, loading and unloading materials, and organizing products within the yard and warehouse.
• Use hand and power tools safely as needed to support sorting, processing, or handling of materials.
• Follow all safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Remain alert and aware in a busy industrial yard with frequent tractor trailer traffic and large machinery operating nearby.
• Work effectively in outdoor conditions and in a warehouse environment that may be dirty and exposed to heat and other weather elements.
• Interact respectfully and professionally with a wide variety of customers visiting the facility.

Essential Skills

• Experience working in outdoor or field-based roles such as construction, landscaping/hardscaping, or logging, with comfort working in varying weather conditions.
• Previous forklift experience, including sit-down forklift operation is highly beneficial
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly as part of daily duties.
• Comfort working in a highly industrial environment with heavy equipment, tractor trailers, and large machinery in operation.
• Basic mechanical aptitude to support safe operation of equipment and tools.
• Experience with material handling and inventory-related tasks in an industrial or warehouse setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with reach trucks and other material handling equipment is an advantage.
• Prior use of hand and power tools in an industrial, construction, or similar environment.
• Familiarity with inventory processes and material tracking in a warehouse or yard setting.
• Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance in a full-time, Monday through Friday schedule.
• Openness to learning different alloys and metal products and applying that knowledge on the job.

Work Environment

This is a highly industrial work environment that is busy and fast-paced, with a large facility and significant tractor trailer and heavy machinery traffic. The role is primarily outdoors or in warehouse areas that are open to the elements, and the work area can be dirty due to the nature of metal handling and processing. Operations continue in most weather conditions and only pause in rare cases such as a state-declared emergency, so employees must be comfortable working in heat and other challenging environmental conditions. Safety is the top priority, and the company provides personal protective equipment including safety glasses, hard hats, high-visibility vests, and gloves, while employees supply their own steel-toed boots; once hired permanently, employees receive an allowance for boots. The schedule runs Monday through Friday from approximately 6:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m ., with the possibility of additional hours as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Concord, NH.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Concord,NH.
