C'E Montessori is an independent Montessori school serving children from infancy through Middle School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Position Overview C'E Montessori is seeking a passionate, intellectually curious, and collaborative Middle School Math & Science Teacher to join our International Baccalaureate MYP faculty. This position serves students ages 11–14 in a mixed-age Montessori environment while delivering the Mathematics and Sciences components of the IB Middle Years Programme. Our ideal candidate believes that adolescents learn best through investigation, experimentation, discussion, collaboration, and authentic problem solving—not simply lectures and worksheets. You'll have the opportunity to design interdisciplinary units, connect mathematics and science to current events and community issues, guide independent research projects, supervise laboratory investigations, and regularly take learning beyond the classroom into New York City. Responsibilities Teach engaging middle school Mathematics and Science courses aligned with the IB MYP framework. Design inquiry-driven units that encourage students to ask questions, investigate, experiment, and reflect. Integrate Montessori principles of independence, choice, hands-on learning, and self-direction into daily instruction. Create interdisciplinary learning experiences connecting mathematics, science, technology, engineering, humanities, and the arts. Plan and supervise laboratory investigations and authentic scientific inquiry. Differentiate instruction for diverse learners while maintaining high academic expectations. Assess student learning using IB MYP assessment criteria and provide meaningful narrative feedback. Serve as an advisor and mentor to middle school students, supporting both academic and personal growth. Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum, exhibitions, field studies, and service-learning experiences. Maintain strong partnerships with families through thoughtful communication and conferences. Participate actively in faculty collaboration, professional development, and school events. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Science, Education, or a related field. Experience teaching Mathematics and/or Science to middle school students. Passion for inquiry-based, student-centered education. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Strong organizational and classroom leadership abilities. Commitment to collaboration and continuous professional growth. Preferred Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate (IB MYP or DP) school. Montessori training or experience in a Montessori environment (or enthusiasm to learn). Experience with project-based learning, interdisciplinary curriculum, or inquiry-based instruction. Experience supervising laboratory investigations and hands-on science learning. Master's degree in Education or a related field.
