Job Description
The Electrical Control Panel Tester inspects, tests, troubleshoots, and validates industrial control panels prior to shipment and installation. This role focuses on ensuring that all panels meet electrical, functional, and quality standards by verifying wiring, control circuitry, and overall system performance. The ideal candidate brings a solid background in electrical wiring, industrial automation, and electrical testing procedures, and works closely with fabrication and assembly teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
Responsibilities
- Perform functional and electrical testing of industrial control panels to verify proper operation and safety.
- Verify panel wiring against electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, panel layout drawings, and customer specifications.
- Troubleshoot wiring issues, component failures, and control circuit problems to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
- Test and validate control systems including PLC-controlled equipment, motor starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), relays, power supplies, and associated components.
- Use electrical testing equipment such as multimeters, megohm meters, continuity testers, and other diagnostic tools to assess system performance and integrity.
- Identify and document deficiencies in panel construction or performance, implement corrective actions, and verify that repairs are completed accurately.
- Ensure compliance with UL standards, NEC requirements, and internal quality procedures for all tested panels.
- Assist fabrication and assembly teams in resolving wiring and design-related issues to improve panel quality and reliability.
- Maintain accurate testing records, quality documentation, and reports for all panels tested.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to panel assembly and testing processes, contributing ideas to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Support startup and commissioning activities for control panels when needed, collaborating with project teams to ensure successful deployment.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oklahoma City, OK.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
