Job Description

Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant performs routine tasks in patient care, bedside nursing, and documentation of care provided. The role emphasizes patient and employee safety, promoting a safe work environment and adherence to safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety guidelines in all areas, including patient handling and infection control.
• Possess the necessary skills and competencies to perform job functions in accordance with population served criteria.
• Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of the menu management system.
• Prepare, assemble, deliver, and retrieve patient menus and selections according to prescribed diets.
• Assist patients in menu selections compliant with prescribed diets and update diet changes in the menu system.
• Communicate patient care and food service issues to the relevant departments.
• Perform clerical tasks in the Food & Nutrition office, maintaining organization and efficiency.
• Attend in-services and departmental meetings and assist trayline, food service aides, or catering as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience required.
• BLS certification required (CIRH ONLY unless required by state).
