Job No: 498937 Work Type: Staff Part-Time Location: Denver, CO Categories: Business Operations / Services, Admin / Executive / Office Support, Research Position Summary This is a non-benefited position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a calendar year. The Teaching and Learning Sciences Department at Morgridge College of Education utilizes an integrated approach of theory and practice to be a force for positive change in the educational lives of individuals, organizations, and communities. Professionals promote learning in diverse settings, through partnerships with others, and by engaging in high-quality research within our respective fields This part-time position supports a federally funded research study by delivering targeted reading and behavioral support to second- and third-grade students in a small group setting. The role calls for approximately 20 hours per week during normal school hours, with occasional travel between school sites depending on assignment. Mileage to and from school sites is reimbursed at the federal government standard mileage rate. Reliability, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in helping young learners grow are essential to success in this role. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking hands-on experience with working directly with elementary-age students, delivering structured reading and behavioral interventions, and contributing to meaningful, data-driven educational research. This position is funded by a grant through 08/31/2029, and there is no guarantee of a position after that date. This position is contingent upon those grant funds being appropriated. The interventionist will report directly to the research project coordinator and principal investigator and will receive ongoing mentorship and supervision throughout the duration of the project. Regular one-on-one meetings will be scheduled to support professional development. Essential Functions Deliver small-group and individual reading and behavioral interventions to students in grades 2 and 3 in strict accordance with the study's prescribed curriculum, scripts, and pacing guides. Implement intervention sessions with high fidelity, following all specified procedures and sequencing as outlined in the research protocol. Maintain detailed, accurate, and timely session logs, attendance records, and progress-monitoring data for every student served. Administer standardized assessments and progress-monitoring measures according to specified protocols and timelines, ensuring accurate scoring and data entry. Complete fidelity checklists and self-monitoring documentation for each session to support ongoing fidelity-of-implementation tracking required by the study. Participate in regular fidelity observations, coaching sessions, and booster trainings, and implement feedback to maintain adherence to the intervention model. Collect, organize, and submit all required data (attendance, assessment, behavioral) to the research team by established deadlines, following data security and confidentiality protocols. Communicate and coordinate with classroom teachers, school staff, and the research team regarding student scheduling and progress. Monitor and document student behavior using specified behavioral tracking tools, implementing behavior support strategies consistent with the intervention design. Safeguard the integrity of the study by maintaining strict confidentiality of student data, adhering to IRB requirements, and reporting any protocol deviations or data concerns promptly to the principal investigator or project coordinator. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of structured, evidence-based reading instruction and behavioral intervention strategies, with the ability to implement a prescribed curriculum with fidelity Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate session logs, progress-monitoring data, and fidelity documentation Ability to build rapport and manage behavior effectively with young students individually and in small groups, while maintaining focus and consistency across sessions Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, special education, psychology, speech-language pathology, or a related field Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly those with or at risk for reading difficulties or learning disabilities Strong organizational and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain detailed records Preferred Qualifications Master's degree or graduate coursework in special education, reading/literacy, educational psychology, or a related field Experience delivering structured literacy or reading intervention, such as in a tutoring, coaching, interventionist, or paraprofessional capacity Work Schedule The role calls for approximately 20 hours per week during normal school hours, with occasional travel between school sites depending on assignment.
