We invite you to become part of an energetic pediatric critical care team dedicated to developing a specialized pediatric cardiac ICU within a 32-bed PICU. Our organization is in search of a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Physician who is enthusiastic about teamwork and innovation. In this position, you will provide care for both general PICU and cardiac patients at Virginia's sole independent children's hospital located in Norfolk, Virginia, collaborating with a physician-owned multi-specialty group.

The cardiac surgery program at our facility is integrated into a regional partnership with the University of Virginia, known as the Virginia Congenital Cardiac Collaborative. This program is backed by experienced surgeons, including Dr. Umar Boston (Chief of Cardiac Surgery) and Dr. Phillip Smith (Surgical Director of the Fetal Care Center), who collectively bring over 50 years of expertise. Currently, we perform around 100 index cardiac surgeries annually, with plans to expand the new CICU service line to approximately 200 cases each year. Reach out to us to discover more!

• Contribute to the establishment and growth of a dedicated pediatric cardiac ICU (PCICU) within the PICU.

• Collaborate with 8 PICU physicians and 4 advanced practice providers (APPs).
• Be part of a growing cardiac intensivist team expanding to 4 physicians, including a medical director.
• Engage in teaching and mentoring within Virginia's largest pediatric residency training program.
• Customize your academic involvement according to your interests, with no mandatory research obligations.
• Share a 1:9 call schedule covering both PICU and cardiac patients.
