Building and Grounds Department Summer Employee, Salem Public Schools, Salem, MA Summer 2026 Location: Salem, MA Starting Date: July 1, 2026 Job Type: Full-Time Summer Work Hours: Monday‑Friday 6 am–2 pm Pay: $15.00 per hour Job Summary: As a summer employee in the Building and Grounds Department, you will support maintenance and custodial staff, gaining practical experience in facility upkeep and ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students and staff. Key Responsibilities Assist in general maintenance and repair tasks within school buildings and on school grounds, including painting, minor plumbing, and carpentry work. Aid custodial team in maintaining cleanliness throughout the school, including cleaning, organizing, moving furniture, and assisting with waste disposal. Contribute to grounds maintenance by participating in landscaping, mowing, weeding, and general outdoor upkeep. Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others. Learn from experienced professionals, ask questions, and actively participate in building and grounds maintenance. Qualifications Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and contribute to the team. Reliable, punctual, and highly responsible. Self‑motivated and able to take directions. Good communication skills.
