Job Description Information Seeking a detail‑oriented professional to provide primary support for NASA with responsibilities under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). Primary duties will include research and to draft and prepare clear, consistent and legally compliant responses to requests for NASA information, in accordance with FOIA (5 U.S.C. § 552) and NASA FOIA regulations (14 CFR Part 1206). This role requires strong analytical and writing skills, sound judgment and a working knowledge of federal information‑disclosure requirements. In addition to FOIA duties, the contractor will support internal communications activities as needed, including planning, drafting, editing and coordinating logistics for communication efforts that help maintain an informed and engaged workforce. The candidates must have full FOIA experience (cradle to grave). Key Responsibilities Provide end‑to‑end communications support, including planning, writing, editing, logistics coordination and on‑site execution. Research and draft FOIA responses that meet all legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of FOIA law, NASA FOIA regulations, the Department of Justice FOIA Guide and relevant FOIA court opinions. Review incoming FOIA requests; issue acknowledgments; and address fee waiver or expedited‑processing requests. Coordinate searches by sending taskings to the appropriate NASA program offices responsible for the requested records. Review responsive records and apply legally required redactions and FOIA exemptions, including coordinating with subject‑matter experts for technical materials. Draft, proofread and edit FOIA response letters. Submit completed FOIA response packages to the Office of General Counsel for review and concurrence. Support internal communications activities as needed, including planning, drafting, editing and coordinating logistics for communication efforts that help maintain an informed and engaged workforce. This role requires strong writing skills, sound judgment, attention to detail and the ability to interpret and apply federal information‑disclosure laws. Candidates should be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment committed to transparency, public service and mission success. This is an onsite position at NASA Headquarters in Washington, D.C. Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience is required.
