Job Overview:

The Machine Operator at Lyon Metal Roofing's Piney Flats, TN location is a pivotal role responsible for operating machinery to ensure efficient production of metal roofing products. Reporting to the Plant Lead, this position requires adherence to Lyon Metal Roofing's core values and a proactive approach to cross-training and cross-operation across various equipment within the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:
1. **Machine Operation:** Operate machinery according to standard operating procedures to produce metal roofing products efficiently and safely.
2. **Maintenance:** Perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
3. **Quality Control:** Monitor product quality throughout the production process, conducting visual inspections and making adjustments as needed to maintain quality standards.
4. **Safety Compliance:** Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while operating machinery, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe work practices.
5. **Cross-Training:** Participate in cross-training initiatives to learn and perform tasks across multiple machines and production processes.
6. **Team Collaboration:** Work closely with colleagues and the Plant Lead to coordinate production activities, troubleshoot issues, and optimize workflow.
7. **Continuous Improvement:** Identify opportunities for process optimization, waste reduction, and efficiency improvements, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
8. **Documentation:** Record production data, including output quantities, downtime, and quality issues, accurately and timely.
9. **Equipment Upkeep:** Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area and machinery, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
10. **Adaptability:** Flexibly transition between different tasks and machinery as production needs dictate, demonstrating versatility and willingness to learn.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in machine operation or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
• Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.
• Willingness to undergo crosstraining and perform various tasks as needed.
• Commitment to safety, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential hazards.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift and move heavy materials as required.
