DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL - PT/16hrs.

Overview The Direct Support Professional will follow agency policies and participate in related goals and plans, which promote inclusion as well as social and emotional growth for the individuals we support. The DSP is responsible for the health, well-being, and development of individuals we serve and works in conjunction with other staff members to provide the best possible care for all individuals. The DSP will actively be involved in the creation, implementation, and updating of Positive Behavior Support Plans and ISP goals. The DSP also supports the IMPACT mission, vision, and guiding principles. Responsibilities Follow agency policies and participate in related goals and plans to promote inclusion and social and emotional growth for the individuals we support. Ensure the health, well-being, and development of individuals served and collaborate with other staff to provide quality care. Create, implement, and update Positive Behavior Support Plans and ISP goals as part of care planning. Support the IMPACT mission, vision, and guiding principles. Qualifications Must have a valid CT Driver's License and a reliable vehicle with current CT registration and insurance. High school diploma or equivalent. Have or be able to obtain CPR/First Aid, PMT, and DDS Medication Administration Certification. Essential physical skills to run, squat, stoop/bend, kneel, climb stairs, lift at least 50 pounds (or ¼ of own body weight), push/pull against resistance, and to implement non-physical and physical intervention and CPR with individuals supported when needed. Minimum Education and Experience Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED. Associate or bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, or related field preferred. At least 3-5 years of job experience preferred, but training will be provided for motivated candidates.
