Job Title: Process Engineer Job Description
The Process Engineer is responsible for leading the design and implementation of solutions that meet the needs of manufacturing clients. This role requires an understanding of processing technologies and the design and delivery of production systems for manufacturing facilities, with an emphasis on raw material storage, processing, thermal processing, mixing & blending, filling, and safety compliance. A commitment to sustainability and cost-effectiveness is essential. The Process Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities

• Design processes to achieve project goals.
• Define processing steps required.
• Calculate equipment rates and prepare block and process flow diagrams to ensure all flows are understood and included in the design.
• Engineer process equipment and systems.
• Perform process calculations, size and select equipment and components, and ensure designs comply with relevant codes and practices.
• Develop P&IDs, equipment specifications, installation specifications, equipment lists, controls narratives, and coordinate design.
• Coordinate with third parties for equipment engineered by others and with internal or external project team members for integration of the process into plant infrastructure.
• Support procurement of equipment and installation packages.
• Assist in identifying suppliers and subcontractors, perform technical writing aspects in bid packages for scope definition, and compile technical engineering documents for bid packages.
• Participate in bid-scope reviews, assist in analyzing proposals, lead design reviews of drawings and models, attend coordination meetings, review submittals, and participate in factory acceptance testing.
• Support installation of process equipment.
• Review installation submittals and participate in subcontractor coordination meetings.
• Travel to sites for technical assistance, coordinate directly with field staff and subcontractors, identify and resolve issues that arise, review installations for correctness, and revise drawings for as-built conditions.
• Startup and commissioning of process equipment.
• Assist in preparing comprehensive documentation of commissioning processes, test results, and system performance.
• Assist in process system testing and commissioning activities, including functional testing, performance testing, and safety testing.
• Coordinate with clients and stakeholders for system handover, providing necessary documentation and training for operational staff.
• Maintain current knowledge of manufacturing trends and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or a related field.
• 1-7 years of experience in industrial manufacturing systems.
• Experience in startup and commissioning of process systems is preferred.
• Knowledge of reactions to heating, cooling, mixing, blending, and pumping.
• Skilled in relevant software; Microsoft Office Software, and a comprehensive understanding of industry, process systems, and plant operations.
• Familiarity with startup and commissioning processes and procedures for process systems.

Work Environment
The office is located just off of 86th, right off of 465. It is a typical engineering office with cubicles and offices lining the space. The dress code is business casual to casual, with jeans and a polo being acceptable attire. The hours are flexible, with a start time between 7-8 AM and an end time around 3:30-5 PM. Typically, the workweek is around 40 hours. This is an in-office role with a laid-back group. Regular travel for site visits, project meetings, and corporate training is required.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.85 - $40.86/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
