EMT Basic

Your job is more than a job. The EMT Basic is responsible for providing highest quality basic life support in a prehospital setting and augments the various hospital emergency department staffs in the emergency care of the sick and injured. The EMT Basic provides assessment and treatment to patients of all ages in an innumerable variety of environmentally uncontrolled settings in which injury and permanent disability to the EMT are possible. The EMT Basic takes histories, performs physical exams, controls bleeding, provides airway control, restores and maintains circulation. They provide care consistent with the general standard of care under the authority of the department's leading physician and according to the treatment protocols as issued approved by the hospital.

Record transfer volumes and continued regional growth. Significant investment in EMS technology and patient transport operations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of work experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) - American Heart Association
• Defensive Driving Certification - Defensive Driving Certification Issuer
• Driver's License - Class D - Louisiana Office Of Motor Vehicles
• Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-Basic) - Louisiana Department Of Health
• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic ("Med Tech") ("EMT") (NREMT - Basic) - National Registry Of Emergency Medical Technicians
