The intern develops civilian‑recognized technical skills while learning Kirby‑Smith shop operations, safety standards, and customer service practices. DoD SkillBridge Heavy Equipment Service Technician/Mechanic Essential Function Communicates and supports the Kirby Smith vision and core values of One Mission, One Team, One Plan, One Goal Performs diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and powertrains under technician supervision Completes preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled service work on heavy equipment Reads and interprets technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer service bulletins Uses diagnostic software and specialized tools to identify equipment issues Documents work performed, parts used, and labor hours in the shop management systemThis is considered a Safety‑Sensitive position.
