Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Telemetry

Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse with experience in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in various clinical skills needed to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant nursing role.
Acceptable for first-time travelers.
Local candidates are welcome, with potential rate differences.
Proficient in MED/Surg and Telemetry remote monitoring.
Experience in the use of Rapid Response Teams and dysrhythmia interpretation.
Skilled in IV insulin protocols, colostomy care, feeding tube care and management.
Pre/Post Hemodialysis management and blood product administration experience.
Experienced in central line blood draws, peripheral line management, and phlebotomy.
Knowledgeable in PICC line management, IV initiation, and administration of Heparin and PCA.
Ability to manage chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac) and understand non-invasive airway management techniques.
Familiar with oxygen therapies, including CPAP/BiPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).
Knowledge of isolation precautions and wound care, including Wound Vac usage.
Certification in BCLS is required.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience in MS/Tele and telemetry unit monitoring.
Familiarity with accessing ports and insulin management.
Ability to manage CVA and surgical drains.
Interpretation of ABGs and management of tracheostomy care.
Experience with EPIC electronic medical records system.

Job Details:

Target Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
Shift: 12-hour nights; options for 36 or 48 hours per week.
Contract lengths from 13 to 26 weeks.
Floating to other units may be required based on staffing needs.
Weekend shifts expected: 12-16 shifts per contract.
All staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and must be prepared to work during catastrophic events.

Patient Diagnoses:

The department handles a variety of patient conditions including dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fractures, alongside typical Medical/Surgical diagnoses.

Unit Systems:

Medications managed through Pyxis.
Documentation and communication supported by Epic and SBAR protocols.

Orientation and Attire:

24 hours of unit orientation is provided.
Hospital orientation will be conducted in the first week; attendance in daily classes is mandatory.
Scrubs required: Navy and White.

Additional Requirement:

Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to the start date for this specialty role.
