Cook Position At Valley Presbyterian Hospital

Valley Presbyterian Hospital is seeking a skilled and dependable Cook to join our Food & Nutrition Services team. In this role, you will prepare high-quality meals for patients, visitors, staff, and catered events while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and customer service. What You'll Do

• Prepare food for patient meal service, the cafeteria, and catered events.
• Follow standardized recipes and daily production sheets to ensure quality and consistency.
• Prepare meals for a variety of service areas within the department.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention.
• Rotate between the main kitchen and cafeteria as needed.
• Prepare ingredients and food items for the following day's production.
• Monitor, clean, and maintain kitchen equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Adapt to changing priorities and workload throughout the day.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using a "clean as you go" approach.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental training.
• Comply with hospital policies, safety regulations, and customer service standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

• Minimum of two (2) years of full-time cooking experience in a fast-paced food service environment such as a hospital, hotel, country club, airline catering, or similar operation.
• Ability to read, understand, and accurately follow standardized recipes.
• Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and food safety practices.
• Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Self-motivated with excellent time management and organizational abilities.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining quality and efficiency.
• Strong communication skills and commitment to exceptional customer service.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure & Certifications

• Los Angeles City Fire Card required within 30 days of hire.
