Lecturer of Sociology

Essential Job Duties The Department of Sociology and Anthropology at North Carolina State University invites applications for Lecturer positions to support instruction across Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027. Multiple hires may be made, most roles structured as part‑time, in‑person teaching. This position supports undergraduate education in sociology and criminology, shaping engaging, high‑quality learning experiences. Key Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in sociology and/or criminology. Coordinate and plan course delivery aligned with departmental expectations. Develop and prepare course syllabi and instructional materials. Deliver engaging classroom instruction in an in‑person setting. Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback. Manage course‑related activities, including grading and student communication. Each Lecturer also performs all other duties as directed by the Department Head. Educational Requirements Master’s degree in sociology or a related field. Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence. Required Qualifications Strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Excellent communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Teaching experience at the university level. Ph.D. in sociology or a related field.
