Cert Sterile Processing Tech Evenings

Performs decontamination, disinfection, inspection, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and infection prevention standards.

Operates sterilization equipment, verifies sterilization parameters, reviews sterilizer records, and ensures all instrument sets contain required sterility indicators and tracking documentation before release for patient care.

Accurately assembles complex instrument trays and surgical sets, maintaining inventory integrity and documenting activities in tracking systems and required records.

Monitors sterilization quality processes, maintains logs and documentation, initiates recall procedures for sterilization failures, and escalates issues to leadership as appropriate.

Collaborates with hospital departments, supports training and onboarding of team members, and rotates across decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and equipment management functions to support departmental operations.

• Understanding of the principles of microbiology, aseptic principles and techniques, and infection control as they apply to sterile supply operation.
• Basic knowledge of prevention of cross contamination and the critical nature of nosocomial infections.
• Knowledge of the use, operation, maintenance, assembly, disassembly and cleaning requirements of the full range of instruments and equipment.

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Field of Study:

• in healthcare sterile processing

Work Experience:

• 1+ related experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Required] OR
• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Required]
• Basic Life Support CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]

Pay Range:

$16.36 $26.17
