Merchandise Manager

At Five Below, we thrive on a culture of fun and opportunity. This role focuses on ensuring our stores run smoothly, from receiving new stock to driving sales and managing a small team. Responsibilities Oversee the receiving, unpacking, and organization of new stock to ensure items are quickly and efficiently placed on the sales floor. Manage the setup and maintenance of displays for specific store sections, ensuring signage is accurate and promotions are properly highlighted. Manage the entire process of opening or closing the store, including securing cash, locking doors, setting alarms, and ensuring everything is in place for a smooth daily operation. Act as Manager on Duty when needed, taking full responsibility for store operations, staff management, customer service, and addressing any urgent issues. Help oversee the daily activities of all store associates, ensuring they are performing their duties effectively and providing excellent customer service. Support the onboarding and ongoing training of associates, helping them learn store policies, product knowledge, and operational procedures. Drive store sales and control expenses by actively seeking ways to boost sales through merchandising, staff performance, and customer service. Execute the market plan by arranging products and signage according to corporate guidelines. Ensure the execution of the company Inventory Integrity process. Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent; college experience preferred. Minimum 2 years of management experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask. Creative thinking. Ability to maintain composure under pressure. Essential Job Functions Operate cash register frequently. Move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and place/remove merchandise up to a height of 5‑10 feet. Ascend and descend ladders to retrieve and put away stock. Kneel, bend, twist, and stoop in the stock room and on the sales floor, including handling merchandise up to 5‑10 feet high. Communicate with customers by telephone and face‑to‑face and with managers and coworkers, exchanging accurate information. Assist customers across the sales floor and retrieve/put away merchandise from the stock room. Work a flexible schedule (day, evening, weekend, overnight shifts) and travel as required. Interpret email and print instructions regarding merchandise layouts, associate schedules, and standard operating procedures. Remain in a stationary, upright position for 80% of the time.
